Beats Solo2 (Wired): Review
The Beats Solo2 represents Beats Solo’s new version and is sold both in cable version and in the Wireless version for greater comfort and freedom of movement. The sound that this headphone can reproduce is excellent, as well as comfortable and design.
The Beats branded headphones and earphones Dr. Dre have achieved great popularity, especially among younger audiences. They are particularly ” cool ” products, able to combine good sound quality with an attractive design.
With Beats Solo2 on-ear headphones, the company presented a model that is characterized, once again, by the excellent choice in terms of materials, for the presence of a cable equipped with Remote Talk and for the improvement achieved at the sound level, now much more balanced than the previous models.
Two versions of Beats Solo2 were presented on the market: Beats By Dr. Dre Solo2 (with cable) and Beats Dr. Dre Solo2 Wireless, obviously available at a higher price.
Beats Solo2 (Wired) – Packaging, Design, and Materials
Once the sales package is open, the case containing the Beats Solo2 stands out immediately due to its softness and the presence of the Beats logo.
In addition to the headphones, the manufacturer has included an anti-tangle cable equipped with a double 3.5 mm jack, a clip that allows you to hook the case, a pair of stickers bearing the Beats logo, and a pouch/case that facilitates transport (also favored from the fact that you can fold the headphones).
A glance is enough to immediately realize how this model is more compact than the Beats Studio 2.0, of which the lines are obviously taken. As for the internal structure, the choice was to resort to a resistant material such as metal to ensure prolonged use over time. This did not involve sacrifices in lightness, considering that the weight reaches only 205 grams; the external coating is glossy plastic.
Compared to the previous model, the memory foam pavilions of the Beats Solo2 have a greater thickness, which has led to better soundproofing and an increase in comfort levels. The attention to detail and the absence of both screws and junction points insight are also impressive; Beats headphones by Dr. Dre Solo2 appear as a single foldable block.
Comfort and Ergonomics
Being on-ear headphones, the Beats Solo2 bearings inevitably tend to press directly on the wearer’s ears. The softness gives positive feelings without oppression typical of some models belonging to the same type. Furthermore, this pressure also allows runners to use them during training or, in any case, during sports activities, even if we do not recommend them for such use.
We have noticed that these oversized headphones’ pavilions do not cause perspiration even if used on summer days, by the quality materials used for their construction, effective in dissipating the heat.
Beats Solo2 can be worn without problems even by those who have a rather large head circumference, thanks to the ability to easily adjust the pavilions, which are perfectly adaptable and ergonomically angled, just as Beats states. The work on the casing of the cap then led the latter to present a greater curvature compared to the previous version, greatly improving the wearability.
Audio Quality
In the review, we will focus on the audio quality offered by Beats Solo2. Beats wanted to incorporate the indications provided by users who tried the models launched previously at the sound level. In particular, the exasperated bass research that, in some cases, led to a certain artificiality of the sound, or its imbalance towards certain frequencies, was abandoned.
Although it has not yet managed to achieve that perfection of sound and that clarity desired by audiophiles, the work carried out by Beats has led to a range of sounds that is appreciated for its breadth and dynamism, guaranteeing a rather satisfying reproduction. However, according to us, there is still a slight predisposition for music that emphasizes the bass, for example, hip-hop, electronics, and pop.
The headphones launched by Beats were born precisely for these genres of music. It must be admitted that with Solo2 On-Ear, Beats has managed to get a more balanced sound between the low, medium, and high frequencies, making this oversized headphone more versatile and more suitable for other musical genres, such as rock and jazz, but certainly less suitable for classical music. Those who love rock, for example: can now enjoy a good-quality sound, even if bass and drums could be a bit too emphasized compared to other instruments.
The headphones were made especially for listening to music but can also be used to watch movies or enjoy video games. It is preferable not to resort to an excessively high volume in these areas to avoid redundancy of the bass.
To conclude with the audio segment of Beats Solo2, the excellent work carried out in terms of sound insulation must be remembered. However, no particular technologies have been adopted for the reduction of environmental noise. The soft and thick pavilions perform their work admirably from this point of view.
Main Features and Functionality
As for these headphone features, it should be noted that Beats Solo2 is equipped with a cable that offers the Remote Talk function. The latter allows the user to jump from one song to another, adjust the volume as desired, and respond to any calls (when choosing to listen to music from your smartphone) without acting on the device.
This headphone is also equipped with an integrated microphone that also works very well and ensures excellent quality of the voice in the conversation, even if we do not know well the technical specifications of the microphone adopted.
The wireless version of this headphone, or the Beats Solo2 Wireless, the battery life of these on-ear headphones guarantees about 10 hours of continuous use. The user can also constantly monitor the charge thanks to the indication of 5 different levels. Finally, the fact of being able to rely on the cable supplied with a 3.5 mm jack allows us to use the Beats Solo2 Wireless even when they are completely discharged.

Conclusions
The Beats Solo2 on-ear headphones represent a decided step toward an ever clearer and more balanced sound. This without renouncing Beats headphones’ strong points, i.e., the use of quality materials, refined aesthetics, and ergonomics.
These are headphones that could have attracted even more users if their price had been more contained. However, compared to many other competing models, their design, refinement, and comfort level seem superior. So we recommend purchasing Beats Solo2 headphones? Probably yes, if you have budget problems to spend and look for a pair of compact and comfortable headphones, able to offer good-quality audio.
